Master in Parlamento e Politiche Pubbliche
Second-level master's degree
This program was designed for graduates preparing for public competitions to enter careers at the Senate of the Republic, the Chamber of Deputies, regional and local assemblies, and constitutional bodies, as well as the administrations of the state, independent territories and the European Union. The program provides specific training for those who wish to participate in the selection process for course-competitions for public management and the institutions of the European Union.
The MAPPP trains senior officials of representative, governmental and administrative institutions, providing them with critical and multidisciplinary knowledge on issues connected to the functioning of modern parliamentary systems. The objective is to give participants postgraduate preparation in a variety of disciplines, an understanding of the links between these disciplines and how they can be applied to institutional dynamics. They are also taught how to draft written texts, which for the most part are done in the classroom and in a limited time, simulating the testing of public competitions.
In 2009-2010 as part of the MAPPP, a Jean Monnet ad personam chair, headed by Professor Andrea Manzella on the topic of “Democratic Principles in the European Union (EU),” was launched, sponsored by the European Commission. This chair is tasked with addressing the big issues that relate to the nature of representation, both at the level of the EU and its member states.
Director: Nicola Lupo (full professor of Law of Elective Assemblies, LUISS Guido Carli)
