The Board of Directors of Luiss University has appointed Professor Paolo Boccardelli as the new Rector of the University, effective 26 June 2024. Professor Boccardelli succeeds Professor Andrea Prencipe, who concludes his second term.
Paolo Boccardelli, a 52-year-old Roman and Luiss alumnus, brings extensive experience in teaching and academic research. He is currently a Full Professor of Business Economics and Corporate Strategy and directs the Franco Fontana Research Center in Strategic Change at Luiss. Previously, he served as the Dean of the Luiss Business School.
President Luigi Gubitosi stated, "With the appointment of Professor Paolo Boccardelli, Luiss Guido Carli reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, preparing to face the future challenges of higher education". The President also thanked the outgoing Rector, Andrea Prencipe, for his significant contributions to internationalisation and research, transforming Luiss into a global reference point.
Over the past six years, the University has maintained a strong focus on innovation and interdisciplinarity in its educational offerings, solidifying its position in the most important international rankings. Luiss is now ranked among the top 20 universities worldwide and 1st in Italy for Politics and International Studies according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, and achieved 30th place globally in the latest Financial Times Masters in Management ranking, up from 90th in 2019.
In recent years, Luiss has broadened its international network and strengthened its relationship with its ecosystem, which includes institutional partners, the business world, and its Alumni network.
