The Importance of Being More Curious than Good.
Guido W. Imbens, the 2021 Nobel Laureate in Economics, shared highlights of his remarkable scientific career with our academic community at the event titled “Causality in Econometrics: My Evaluation as an Econometrician.” He focused on innovative methods and recent studies in economics and the social sciences.
His work has marked a turning point in economic analysis, providing new tools for understanding cause-and-effect relationships in economics, which also have significant implications for other social sciences.
Professor Imbens emphasised that causal analysis requires not only a solid methodological foundation but also a particular mindset: the ability to be curious and ask the right questions.
