LUISS Creative Summer School students have won Meglio di un romanzo (in bozze), the second annual narrative journalism project sponsored by the Festivaletteratura di Mantova, taking place this year September 9-13, 2015.
The category Piuma, in collaboration with the LUISS Creative Summer School, awards the best individual or group compositions by teens aged 15 to 18, dedicated to narrative journalism and documentary writing. LUISS Creative Summer School students will present and discuss their work September 11 and 12 on the Festivaletteratura stage, in front of an audience and a jury of experts including journalists such as Luca Sofri, Enrico Deaglio, Francesco Abate, Lirio Abbate, Francesco Erbani and Chiara Valerio.
“With this competition,” says LUISS Summer School Director Roberto Costantini, “the University and the Festivaletteratura aim to promote young people’s interest in narrative, inviting them to challenge themselves in the field of writing and in all its forms of expression. This comparison of strengths, potential and errors of the pieces will become a mini journalism laboratory for those who want to explore new roles growing in the world of communication on a global scale.”
The first two pieces, featuring original points of view on current events, will be presented Friday, September 11 at 11:30 in Piazza Leon Battista Alberto. The authors are: Cecilia Fruet with the report Le donne e il lavoro, on immigration and exploitation; and Luisa Simone with Il valore della cultura tra i giovani: cosa significa, in quali forme, a reflection on youth lifestyles and means of self-expression.
On Saturday, September 12, once again at 11:30 in Piazza Leon Battista Alberi, two groups from the same category will present two video interviews: Here I am, edited by Filippo Luchi, Antonio Di Noia, Gemma Colarieti, Ilenia Bertacche, Marta Salvatore and Dario Razaei Riabi, on the long journey of a young immigrant from Mali to Italy; and I colori del riscatto edited by Bruno Fanelli, Vittoria Castrovinci, Alice Palomba, Simone Corvino, Letizia Barberi and Stefano Dugo, about urban renewal in Rome’s Tor Marancia neighborhood with interviews from artists and residents.
