A LUISS delegation has recently returned from a visit to Dubai and Abu Dhabi

The United Arab Emirates (together with China, Russia, Brazil, Vietnam, Iran and Indonesia) is a state where LUISS is keen to invest foremost in the next few years. The reason behind this project lies in the intention of combining academic and internship opportunities in those countries where Italian investments are growing.

The United Arab Emirates has a multicultural academic community with a large number of Italian professors, English-taught courses and students coming from more than 100 countries. From an academic perspective, LUISS action has been focusing on U.S Universities such as American University of Sharjah, American University Dubai, and New York University Abu Dhabi. These universities’ long-standing tradition and excellent reputation motivate LUISS to develop both faculty and student exchanges.

The large Italian community in the United Arab Emirates is composed of highly qualified professionals: more than 10,000 Italians living in Dubai are lawyers in large international law firms, experts working in consulting and finance companies, Italian and international firm managers, as well as successful entrepreneurs in the fields of communication, art, sport, food and beverage. Among those professionals, approximately 40 are also LUISS alumni, who met with the LUISS delegation and shared their experiences. As a result, many new internship opportunities will be opened for LUISS students, starting in Fall 2016.

Special thanks should go to the Italian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, LUISS alumnus Liborio Stellino, and to all the members of the Italian diplomatic corps for their support in this project.
