Beginning in 2016-2017, LUISS Guido Carli will send five International Relations students majoring in European Studies, to study at the University of Salzburg thanks to a newly signed Double Degree agreement.

Selected students will spend their second year at the Austrian university, obtaining the Master of Arts in European Union Studies in addition to the LUISS Master in International Relations.

“Thanks to the multidisciplinary - yet focused - approach, participants will have the opportunity to enhance the knowledge they have obtained at LUISS with truly exceptional academics dedicated to European studies. Students will spend the majority of their first semester in Salzburg, participating in political and legal simulations, considered one of the most innovative aspects of the Austrian program,” explains Professor Giovanni Orsina, the program’s academic director.

“Furthermore, it is fundamental to underline the importance of an international, European education for students that wish to follow academic and professional paths in European institutions. The program in Salzburg is particularly useful in this, and therefore its a path that truly compliments the European Studies program,” adds Professor Orsina.

The agreement was made possible thanks to Professor Sonja Puntscher Riekmann, Director of the Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies, and visiting professor in the LUISS Department of Political Science in Fall 2014.

Founded in 1622, the University of Salzburg is one of Austria’s most important universities and has four departments: Social Sciences, Law, Natural Science and Catholic Theology. A UNESCO world heritage site, Salzburg is known for its natural and architectural beauty as well as its historic relationship with music.
