LUISS – Paris-Dauphine joint Summer Program on Europe falls within the broader framework of cooperation between the two universities, together with an Exchange Agreement and a Double Degree Program in Management.
At the same time, LUISS and Paris-Dauphine are willing to create a further Double Degree Program in Political Sciences.
The Summer Program study plan focuses on the European integration process from the economic, historical, political and judicial perspectives.
The Program arises from a renewed awareness of the necessity of studying and understanding Europe and its social, cultural and political development. For many centuries, Europe has been a breeding ground for national rivalries which turned into wars, some of which became global. Since then, European integration has been the outcome of historical events and political compromises by means of which very different countries have gathered together into a supranational entity, and yet have maintained their own specific features. It was (and still is) precisely the craving for peace that triggered the European integration process. Therefore, studying the European Union phenomenon is relevant especially if considering the possible exportability of its model of peaceful co-existence.
The Summer Program on Europe will be held from June 26 to July 14, 2016, partly in Rome and partly in Paris. Both LUISS and Paris-Dauphine’s professors will deliver lectures for a total amount of 48 hours. The Program will hence be worth 8 ECTS. In addition, two visits, one to Strasbourg and one to Brussels, will allow the participants to witness the activities of the main European institutions.
