Luiss graduate, Francesco Grassi, began his college career as an undergraduate pursuing a degree in Economics and Financial Intermediation. He would then go on to attain his Master's Degree from Luiss in Economics and Business Management. "I chose Luiss because I knew it would be the type of university that could give me a sound education while allowing me to pursue sports and develop a network of friendships across campus. The relationships I forged during my college years are just another benefit that the University provided to me."

Between his bachelor's and master's degree studies, Francesco moved to the USA for six months. There, he had the opportunity to discover and learn about the area that most fascinated him: "Going to New York really opened my eyes to seeing a whole other life than what I was used to. I got to dive in deep in the world of Venture Capital." Returning to Italy, he started his master's studies and got to know the LVenture Group by way of the business accelerator Luiss EnLabs. "Back in 2015, it was a tiny thing in an emerging sector – but one that allowed me to study and pursue my interests at the same time."

Today, Francesco is Investment Manager at LVenture Group: "The Company grew exponentially. My work is really stimulating, and I know I never would have gotten this far if it hadn't been for the support I got at Luiss." Recently, the Luiss graduate made the Forbes 100 Under 30 list: "It's something I'm really happy about, getting recognized for all my efforts. I always approached my studies and my life with the core values of determination, concentration and commitment. When those things get recognized, it puts a smile on your face – but not one so large that it goes to your head," Francesco says with a smile.

Francesco happily recalls his university years. Amongst those that had a positive impact on him, especially in terms of career choice, figures Giovanni Lo Storto, Managing Director of Luiss. "He was my mentor and reference point; always ready to lend a helping hand and dialogue with students and graduates. He played a tremendous role in my life."

Francesco's message to today's class of students is to "Remain really hungry. Because the world, even with the Covid-19 crisis, holds enormous opportunities to take advantage of, with courage. My motto: Courageous Chickens! People need to believe in their ideas, their projects – because once you have a concept or a project, it becomes a lot easier to realize than you think."

Francesco sees himself continuing his career in Venture Capital, eventually establishing his own fund in the future: "My mission – to help support others' ideas."
