LUISSThesis

LUISSThesis is the LUISS library's digital archive for theses, which today contains over 13,000 texts, 1,200 of which can be consulted online. The service provides online access to the theses discussed, starting with the extraordinary session of the 2006/2007 academic year (February-May 2008), that LUISS graduates have agreed to publish.

LUISSThesis is based on a completely open source software and guarantees the administrative, long-term preservation of papers on secure servers, documenting in detail the studies and research within each subject. But, above all, it makes the complete text of theses available on the web for those theses which graduates have agreed to publish. The service is not just a valuable resource for students and future final year students, but also a controlled, official institutional window for the theses of LUISS graduates, which can give more visibility to their work, even after the end of their studies.

Requests for consultation, in fact, arrive regularly from all types of users: from students and researchers from other universities, to professionals and faculty looking for people to work with or interesting contributions to publish, and even from citizens who want to learn more about certain topics.

All students can choose to authorize the publication of their thesis online either when they apply to take the degree exam (using the automated procedures of the Student Office) or after handing in the thesis. In addition, students have the possibility of giving the Library a revised and corrected copy of the thesis to be made public in the archive as the “other version” of the thesis submitted to the Student Office.

Filing the thesis in the archive can only be done by the staff of the LUISS library and students’ copyrights are protected: graduates who would like to publish their thesis with LUISSThesis can contact the Library directly at: eprints@luiss.it.
