On 18 January 2025, during Orientation Day, high school students and their families had the opportunity to interact with innovative virtual assistants powered by Generative Artificial Intelligence – this project represents the debut of AI technology in university orientation services.
AI Virtual Assistants for tailored University guidance
Luiss introduced an experimental project aimed at enhance the orientation experience through AI. Two digital avatars, developed with Generative Artificial Intelligence technology, worked alongside faculty and staff to provide tailored information on educational offerings, admission procedures, scholarships and the University’s services.
These virtual assistants engaged with participants through interactive totems located on the Viale Romania Campus. Using advanced technology, the avatars facilitated one-to-one voice and visual conversations, offering an immersive and highly personalised experience.
A step forward in Digital Innovation
This initiative is the result of a collaboration between Luiss and linfa, a leading company in the field of Generative AI. This initiative is an integral part of the University’s digital transformation agenda and is part of the broader context of academic innovation, which includes initiatives such as the AI Literacy badge to develop advanced digital skills and Centro di Ricerca AI4Society, dedicated to studying the impact of Artificial Intelligence on society.
The future of AI serving students
Luiss will continue to experiment with and integrate new technologies to enhance university guidance, improve students’ experience, and maintain a focus on innovation and digital advancement.
