The University has worked over the years to make innovative spaces of excellence accessible to students, as well as meeting and exchange locations that add value to life on campus and forms of interactive teaching based on the idea of ‘learning by doing’. Among these, the Luiss Language Café provides opportunities for conversation, workshops, film clubs, peer-to-peer lessons, exhibitions, conferences, and employability guidance in different languages in an international and informal setting. This place fosters students’ creativity in a multi-disciplinary setting where language is used to facilitate the realization of content and projects. More than 1,000 books in the original language, international newspapers and magazines, and three production booths equipped with iMacs for research, job interviews, and the production of videos and podcasts are made available to students. The Luiss LOFT is also a unique space, designed to host and enhance an academic culture based on design-thinking, technology, and creativity. It includes a coding area with three workstations, a video-editing area with green screens, video cameras, and microphones, a hi-tech cinema, and an open space with 3D printers and various Arduino, Raspberry, LEGO Mindstorms, and Makeblock kits, as well as iMacs for video production. There are also many events held here, including creative courses, digital courses, peer learning, project work, and a tech cineforum. Masterclasses with excellent guests, events, and activities connected to the Luiss’s strong musical culture are frequently held in both creative spaces (multiple instruments in both spaces are made available).
