LLM Educational Program with KU Leuven

Highlights

The program represents a unique opportunity for students willing to acquire a solid and in-depth preparation in international law, by spending their 5th year of study in the prestigious and top-class Belgian university.

Students selected for this program will then have the opportunity to obtain, besides the Single-cycle Master's Degree in Law issued by Luiss, an LL.M. Master of Laws released by KU Leuven.

The program is free for the first selected student and tuition-paying for the second and third. For these slots, in addition to tuition fees at Luiss, tuition payable to KU Leuven for the academic year 2025-26 (September 2025) is €7,518. Please note that tuition does not include living expenses.

Application Process

The Call for Application is published on Early December 2024 and students will be able to apply starting from 8 January 2025. Further information on the deadlines are reported in the table below. Details regarding the application process that are not available in this web page, will be available in the Call for Applications 2025/26, uploaded in the 'Useful documents' section at the bottom of this page.

Who can apply

Students enrolled in the fourth year of the single-cycle Master’s degree in Law can apply to this program. According to their major, students can apply for the following  specializations:

• an LLM in International and European Business Law open to students majoring in Diritto Internazionale, European Law, Law and Innovation, Diritto Penale, Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese, Diritto del Lavoro e delle Previdenza Sociale, Diritto Civile, Diritto Societario e Tributario
• an LLM in International and European Public Law open to students majoring in Diritto Internazionale, European Law, Law and Innovation, Diritto Penale, Diritto del Lavoro e della Previdenza Sociale, Diritto Amministrativo.

Every year a total of 3 students can take part in the program.

Requirements

Candidates for this program should possess the following requirements:

• Weighted average grade above 28/30
• Credits: at least 180 ECTS by the application deadline
• as for English language, candidates should have one of the following certificates:
  • IELTS above 7.0, with minimum 7.0 in all scores
  • TOEFL above 100
  • Cambridge Advanced English (CAE)

The language certificates must not be older than two years from the start of the mobility (August/September 2025). Applicants must meet the requirements using a single test.

Selection Procedure

Luiss University will select a shortlist of candidates based on a non-disputable evaluation of the academic profile and the motivation of the student. Further details about the selection process would be published along with the call publication.

Results will be communicated to KU Leuven which reserves the right to make the final choice.
