LLM Educational Program with the University of Glasgow
Highlights
The program gives a solid and international preparation in several areas of Law, providing the following specializations (LLM):
- International Commercial Law
- International Competition Law & Policy
- International Law
- LL.M. in International Economic Law
- LLM Intellectual Property and the Digital Economy
- LL.M. in Corporate & Financial Law
Studying for an LLM at Glasgow equips students with the knowledge and skills needed in an ever-increasing competitive legal market.
It offers a solid preparation to work in environments such as international courts, the European Commission, international law firms, governments, the banking and finance sector, and academic institutions around the world.
The program is a tuition-paying program - in addition to tuition fees at Luiss University.
In addition to Luiss tuition fees, students participating in this program also pay tuition fees to Glasgow University with a 40% discount, hence the tuition payable for the 2025-2026 academic year is £16.254.
Please note that tuition does not include living expenses.

Applican Process
The Call for Application is published on Early December 2024 and students will be able to apply starting from 8 January 2025. Further information on the deadlines are reported in the table below. Details regarding the application process that are not available in this web page, will be available in the Call for Applications 2025/26, uploaded in the 'Useful documents' section at the bottom of this page.
Who can apply
Students enrolled in the fourth year of the single-cycle Master’s degree in Law can apply to this program. According to their majors, students can apply for:
• LL.M. in International Commercial Law open to students majoring in Diritto Internazionale, European Law, Diritto Societario e Tributario, Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese
• LL.M. in International Competition Law & Policy open to students majoring in Diritto Internazionale, European Law, Diritto Amministrativo, Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese
• LL.M. in International Law open to students majoring in Diritto Internazionale
• LLM Intellectual Property and the Digital Economy open to students majoring in Law and Innovation, Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese
• LL.M. in Corporate & Financial Law open to student majoring in Diritto Societario e Tributario, Diritto Civile, Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese
• LL.M. in Human Rights open to students majoring in in Diritto Internazionale, European Law, Diritto amministrativo

Every year a total of 5 students can take part in the program.
Requirements
Candidates for this program should have the following requirements:
- Weighted average grade equal to or above 27/30
- Credits: at least 180 ECTS by the application deadline and 218 ECTS before departure for Glasgow
As for English language, candidates should have one of the following certificates:
- IELTS Academic Module (not General Training): min. 7.0 with no subtests under 6.5
- TOEFL (ibt, my best or athome): min. 95 with minimum R 23, L 23, S 22, W 24.
- Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): min. 185 overall, no subtest less than 176
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): min. 185 overall, no subtest less than 176
- Pearson Academic (PTE): min. 68 with minimum 62 in all subtests.
The language certificates must not be older than two years from the start of the mobility (August/September 2025). Applicants must meet the requirements using a single test.
Selection Process
Luiss University will select a shortlist of candidates based on a non-disputable evaluation of the academic profile and the motivation of the student.
Results will be communicated to the University of Glasgow which reserves the right to make the final choice.
Selection Criteria
The selection follows a 3-step process:
Step 1 | The eligible candidates will be ranked after the analysis of their academic performance (credits 53%, credits for internship 2%, weighted average grade 45%). The academic performance will be calculated on the basis of the data available to the Student Office by 12 February, 2025. |
Step 2 | An interview will focus on the motivation, the academic background and the previous international or professional experiences |
Step 3 | The partner Universities, analyzing the Luiss Commission ranking and the candidates’ dossiers, has the right to confirm the final ranking. |
