Artificial intelligence is a strategic lever for the growth of Italian businesses, but only if it is integrated with human capital and cross-cutting skills.
This is the core of the research “The Augmented AI-Human Job. New Scenarios for Professions in the AI Era", presented in Rome by Intesa Sanpaolo and Luiss University, under the auspices of the Look4ward Observatory, in partnership with Accenture and Digit'Ed.
The study, conducted by Luiss University’s ‘Franco Fontana’ Strategic Change Research Centre, involved more than 800 Italian businesses, CEOs and HR managers, highlighting a strong interest in the adoption of AI (already structurally in place in 18.6% of businesses), with expected benefits of up to +29% in terms of turnover and -17% in terms of costs over the next three years.
Intesa Sanpaolo: a “human in the loop” model for responsible innovation
Intesa Sanpaolo is proving to be one of the main players in digital transformation in Italy, with over 4,500 people involved in the innovation process and more than 150 AI and GenAI applications envisaged by 2025. The Group proposes an organisational model that always entrusts a leading role to people: the so-called “human in the loop” approach.
"Research by the Look4ward Observatory with a top-notch partner like Luiss University, which involved over 800 businesses, shows how artificial intelligence is significantly changing the way that we work but also the way that we learn. The new paradigm requires greater collaboration between people and technologies, the application of transversal skills such as creativity, critical spirit, and the ability to read contexts, build alliances and network, which become essential to keep humans at the centre of transformations. It is crucial to create virtuous ecosystems with businesses and institutions and to design innovative intervention models and educational paths to prepare new generations for the new global challenges", commented Elisa Zambito Marsala, Head of Education Ecosystem and Global Value Programs at Intesa Sanpaolo.
Luiss: educating people capable of governing change
The University continues its strategic commitment to Artificial Intelligence with tangible initiatives such as:
- the establishment of the new Department of AI, Data and Decision Sciences;
- the AI Literacy programme and associated digital badge for Graduate School students to certify the skills acquired in digital literacy;
- an innovative orientation tool, based on AI technologies, designed to offer a digital, interactive and personalised experience.
"Artificial intelligence represents a cultural challenge as well as a technological and organisational one. As a university, we believe that real change comes from the ability to educate people capable of governing innovation and the digital revolution. The partnership with Intesa Sanpaolo confirms our University's strategic role in building an ecosystem of multidisciplinary skills, in which technologies are put at the service of business, creativity, responsibility and sustainable growth, with people always at the heart", said Paolo Boccardelli, Rector of Luiss University.
