When she went to last year’s Career Day, a dozen printed resumes in hand, Ludovica Giovannetti was not looking for a job. She was just a student in Economics and Business Management at LUISS who was looking for companies that she could propose her experimental thesis project to.
In the end, she couldn’t find one, but all those who had a booth at the University’s job fair suggested that she leave her CV. In July 2013, while she was preparing her thesis with her supervisor, Luca Giustiniano, she received a phone call from Novartis, which will be part of the LUISS event this year as well: "I had left my CV at their booth and they asked me to come for an interview. After that, I was picked to do a six-month internship." Last November Ludovica received her master’s degree from LUISS and now, a year after that day when students and graduates visited over 150 booths, Ludovica works near Siena, in the Purchasing Office of that leader in the pharmaceutical sector.
"It wasn’t what I initially dreamed of doing,” says Ludovica. “My program allowed me to do a lot of different things and to work in various areas. I had a passion for marketing, but now I am really happy with what I do."
For this reason, Ludovica recommends that all LUISS students take part in the job fair that brings together young people and the world of work, this year in its eighteenth year: "You have to go! It’s a great chance to network with companies and then, like what happened to me, you never know what doors may open up."
