"In April 2013 I got a job at Accenture through the LUISS Placement Office, but I went to the Career Day in May anyway to meet with other companies in the investment banking sector."
That day, Simone Lauretti, a graduate in Financial Economics who wrote a thesis on the Fondi Comuni d’Investimento (collective investment schemes) supervised by Prof. Emilio Barone, met with KPMG Corporate Finance, where he had done an internship in 2012 as an accountant.
Now Simone has a permanent work contract at the leading company in the professional business services sector. He performs economic-financial analyses and evaluates mergers and acquisitions for KPMG: "It’s a tough job that completely involves me, with flexible hours and significant responsibilities, but it’s what I always wanted to do. I’ve really fulfilled my ambitions."
For students who are getting ready to go to the eighteenth annual “Young People and Work” Day, in which over 100 companies will participate, Simone recommends focusing on their goals in order make Career Day a more fruitful experience: "I had a CV, a little time, and above all the desire to meet representatives of companies where I really wanted to work. At the booths I didn’t just leave my CV: I found really helpful and competent people who listened to me and pointed me in the right direction."
