The 20th annual Festivaletteratura, September 7-11 in Mantova, hosts the third edition of Meglio di un romanzo (in bozze), the narrative journalism project for young people co-sponsored by the LUISS Writing Summer School.
During the festival, the chosen writers from the Piuma and Welter categories, (for ages 15-19 and 20-30 respectively) will have the chance to discuss the reporting project focused on urban challenges with journalists, writers and professionals during presentations open to the public and personalized consultations.
On Saturday, September 10 at 10:30 a.m. in Piazza Leon Battista Alberti, finalists’ projects from the Piuma category, by Writing Summer School 2016 participants, will be presented during a pitching session. The jury includes writer Angelo Ferracuti and journalist Benedetta Tobagi, who will also offer a special lesson on new communication instruments and languages as well as journalistic narration, moderated by Christian Elia.
The thirteen selected students from the LUISS Writing School will compete in Saturday’s finale with two documentaries dedicated to the rebirth of the outskirts and integration of different cultures, told through direct testimony. This year’s short films are:
- Zamba para no morir, by Margherita Pucillo, Andrea Luzzi, Federica Giaccio, Maria Vittoria De Robertis, Luisa Epifani, Leonardo Piselli and Alice Laglia, told through performances by the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio that unites immigrants and native citizens through their passion for music
- Centocelle respira, by Francesca Guastella, Paula Stefan, Rubens Mondì, Alessia Daniele, Davide Capasso and Alice Ambrogi, dedicated to associations that have revived a park in Rome’s Centocelle neighborhood, a long abandoned public space brought back to life by the area’s residents and volunteers.
