Federico Ronca, graduate of the Luiss bachelor’s program in International Relations and the master’s program in Political Science and Government, currently works in Stockholm in the innovation sector at Sweden Food Tech. The graduate has also just launched a startup alongside other Italians called The Aperitivo Company. “Our goal is to promote Italian aperitivo culture in Sweden and in other countries around the world. We organize events with Italian brands like Barilla and Martini, and we are also working on our own product, a natural aperitivo.”

At the beginning of his university career, Federico pictured himself managing public administration. “But I really wanted to do something more dynamic. I then came in contact with the world of innovation through ItaliaCamp.”

Continuing on his professional path in the world of innovation, Federico has also worked for a consulting agency, helping bring the Telecom Italia startup TIMWCAP to the market before moving to Sweden for personal reasons. About his move, Federico also says he wanted to have an international experience. “I was a student representative to the board of administration. I was accepted to study in Macao, but had to decline the offer. In Sweden, I had to build my network from zero. It took a lot of work, but it wasn’t difficult.”

Federico’s fondest memory is when he was elected student representative. “It took teamwork. We believed in a project and we made it happen together.” The graduate explains that the experience helped him to develop soft skills and had a huge influence on his choices following graduation.

To students just starting out at Luiss, Federico suggests taking advantage of all the opportunities the University offers, both academic and extracurricular. He says that it is also essential to be “resourceful and openminded because the job market is extremely dynamic. You have to adapt and build yourself a profession.”

In the future, he hopes to learn as much as he can abroad to then bring new skills back to Italy. “I would like to combine Italian culinary excellence with Swedish innovation in the field of sustainability.”
