Luiss student Giorgia Ferraro is in her second year of the bachelor’s program in Politics, Philosophy and Economics“Besides wanting to study in English in Italy, I chose Luiss because I share the University’s believe that a variety of extracurricular activities and soft skills courses make a difference.”

Even during her high school years, Giorgia was already an active student, spending a year abroad and collaborating with the Ministry of Education. Her project, linked to digital innovation, allowed her to follow the work leading up to the Italian Pavilion at EXPO 2020 in Dubai. Luiss is also participating in the Expo to promote international academic and cultural exchange on the themes of global citizenship, the conservation of our cultural patrimony and sustainability.

Giorgia was chosen as part of the Peer Mentoring Programme at the Italian Pavilion, a leader in education alongside France and Australia. “It’s really interesting to work at your country’s pavilion during a world fair. EXPO 2020 Dubai is especially unique: it is the first time an expo is held in the Arab world and it is a large global exchange in the post-Covid world,” she explains.

One of Giorgia’s fondest memories is TEDxLuiss 2019, during which she acted as speaker curator, managing, selecting and preparing speakers for the event. "It’s an event organized entirely by students that is drawn up and planned out day by day. We worked from September 2018 to March 2019,” Giorgia continued.

To students who are just starting their university experience, Giorgia encourages to “develop many diverse passions, get out there and develop new skills, because these are the things that make you stand out from the rest.”

One of Giorgia’s biggest dreams is to become a diplomat, but through her work and studies, she has discovered that she’d also be happy “to work to promote Italy abroad in international politics.”
