The presentation of Pietro Meucci’s new book entitled, “Ettore Bernabei. The primacy of politics. The secret history of DC recounted through the protagonist’s diary” will be held on Tuesday 19 October at 6.30pm, also in live streaming.
Gianni Letta and Luca Bernabei, CEO of Lux Vide will interact with the author. Paola Severino, Luiss Vice President, will deliver the institutional greetings and Giovanni Lo Storto, Luiss General Manager, will moderate the event.
These writing are published in a special collection, one hundred years after their birth. The happenings recounted in the collection are set in Italy in the second half of the twentieth century. Bernabei discusses what politics truly is and the dynamics that govern it, by referring to events and indiscretions of a young country that aged too quickly, however where power was still synonymous with privilege, sacrifice, and community service.
Ettore Bernabei was a Florentine, the RAI General Manager from 1961 to 1974 and Founder of the film production company Lux Vide-making him one masters of Italian journalism and television. He discovered renowned personalities such as Enzo Biagi and Umberto Eco, and worked with Amintore Fanfani, Aldo Moro, Giorgio La Pira and Enrico Mattei, supporting them in making choices and strategies.
Bernabei was moved by a genuine interest in the common good and saw his career as a mission, engaging in his role with modesty, cautiousness and determination. Bernabei worked in the control room of power for half a century, keeping a daily diary in which, he jotted down peremptory judgments, portraits, doubts, and exceptional testimonies.
The event will be held in the Aula Magna Mario Arcelli of the Viale Pola Luiss campus. To attend the event in-person, you will be required to register and show your Green Pass.
