LUISS Guido Carli hosts a permanent exhibit of calculators and data processors dating from 1965 to 1997.

RetroMachines tells the story of information technology through examples that have made history through technology, aesthetics, design and advertising.

The exhibit is dedicated to Vittorio Frosini, Italian jurist and pioneer of Italian legal technology. The collection was donated to LUISS in April 2015 by Professor Gianfranco Caridi and staged in collaboration with the LUISS IT and Telecommunications Department.

Retro Machines

The exhibit covers 30 years of evolution through instruments that have changed the way we read, write, communicate and think.

Every object represents innovation, just like smartphones, self-driving cars and artificial intelligence.

These computers are no longer useful. They have become obsolete. Yet each of us carries examples of the innovation they represent in our pockets.
