To transfer from another university to Luiss Guido Carli for the academic year 2024/2025 it is necessary to submit an online pre-application form, from June, 3rd to July, 31st 2024.
Which are the requirements for Transferring?
Students currently enrolled at another University may transfer to the Single-Cycle Master's Degree Program in Law only if they have obtained, with a weighted average of 26/30, at least
- 24 credits, for enrollment in the second year
- 60 credits, for enrollment in the third year
- 120 credits, for enrollment in the fourth year
as provided for in the degree program teaching regulations and calculated on the minimum number of credits required.
In case of a mismatch of credits, the Degree Program Coordinator may assess the suitability of the programs and, if necessary, request that an additional exam be taken, whose content will be determined by the adjunct professor holding the course, on a case-by-case basis.
Is it possible to transfer if I am enrolled at a foreign University?
Students who have carried out periods of study abroad and who have taken exams as part of an active career, in which the student is regularly enrolled in timeframe (without achieving the final qualification) can request a career assessment at the end of admission to a year following the first of a three-year or single-cycle degree course for credit recognition. The minimum access requirement is substantially equivalent to what has been approved for transfers from Italian universities. The following criteria will also be taken into consideration:
- they must have a (EU or non-EU) High School Diploma valid for admission to the first year at Luiss;
- the home university at which the exams were taken must be a recognised academic institution of the foreign system;
- the degree program of origin must be relevant with the Italian qualification and be consistent with the contents of the degree program in which one wishes to enroll.
It is reminded that only the applications which include the complete documentation will be taken into consideration: secondary school diploma with Declaration of Value or Certificate of Comparability of foreign qualifications compliant with current legislation on the subject, the official transcript of records (translated only if drawn up in a language other than English) legalized by the competent bodies and the syllabus of each teaching.
The Board Council assesses admission and the year of enrollment on a case-by-case basis, based on the documentation submitted (official Transcript of records, syllabi, High School Diploma).
When the exams are recognised, the number of credits foreseen by the Luiss degree program is attributed following the coherence criteria established by the Didactics' regulations. Regarding grades, given the different university systems, the exams will only be recognised as validated (without indicating the grade). Any validated exams will not be taken into account for the purposes of calculating the weighted average.
Wich documents must be accompanied to the pre-application form?
- an enrollment certificate showing the exams passed, the credits awarded for each such exam and the syllabi of the individual courses, which will be considered by the respective department boards - or a self-certification in accordance with Italian Presidential Decree n. 445/2000 to be delivered signed in original and containing all the data indicated above
- a double-sided copy of an identity document and tax code
- the certificate/self-certification of the High School Diploma
The High School Diploma must comply with current regulations regarding admission qualifications. For more information, visit the following page. Please be reminded that, as mentioned in the Call for Applications, the enrollment will be allowed only upon submission of the official documentation regarding the validity of your qualification (Declaration of Value or Statement of Comparability issued by CIMEA).
- syllabus of each exam in the transcript (to be uploaded in a single file when filling the pre-application).

How can I verify that the pre-application procedure was successful?
Pre-applications for Transferring will be examined by the Board Council and the students will receive an outcome by email within approximately 15 working days.
Students will be notified of the outcome and must confirm their acceptance of the proposal for recognition within 7 days of receipt of the notification.
Upon acceptance, they will receive the necessary instructions to enroll by paying the amount foreseen for the degree program's year to which they have been admitted. In case of non-acceptance of the proposal, students must communicate their renunciation of enrollment.
I have submitted the pre-application for Transferring: do I have to communicate anything to my University?
Students who have received a positive result and have accepted the recognition proposal, once they have completed their exams at their home university by September, 7th 2024 at the latest, must gather all the necessary information from the office of their university to verify the timing and methods for submitting the outgoing transfer request. Only after the certificate has been received and verified by Luiss, it will be possible to proceed with the enrollment.
By what date will I still be able to take exams at my University?
You will be able to take exams at your home university until September, 7th 2024. In this case, the pre-application must be completed within the deadline, indicating the exams to be taken and the date.
What do I have to do to enroll once I have received a positive result?
Notification of the outcome will be made to the email address you provided on your application form. You will have to reply to the email confirming your wish to enroll and accept the proposed recognition of exams. You will then receive an email with instructions for enrollment and payment of the annual tuition fee.
The transfer will only be finalised when: the student has completed all the steps required for enrollment, the home University has sent the outgoing certificate and it has been verified.

You will be able to start attending classes once your Transferring has been completed.
When will I be able to start taking exams and/or integrations once the Transferring has been completed?
