Luiss is a private University, governed by its own Board with autonomy in curricula, scientific research, administrative and disciplinary policy and organization. Its primary mission is the elaboration and transmission of humanistic knowledge, preparation—both culturally and professionally—of its students, and transfer of innovative thinking and processes that respect today’s highest international standards.
The University is composed of four distinct Departments: Economics and Finance, Business and Management, Law and Political Science. The University furthermore boasts four Schools for advanced studies: the Luiss Business School, the Luiss School of Government, the Luiss School of Law and the Luiss School of European Political Economy. The University’s Board of Directors, leadership, employees, consultants and specialists, professors and instructors, students and stakeholders, each in their own realm of influence, all share a common goal: to engage in teaching and research excellence, to propel the advancement of knowledge, the formation of a managerial class of professionals, and to prepare individuals to make a contribution in their lives and careers.
To ensure that these fundamental institutional objectives are met, the University remains steadfast in its commitment to setting procedures, to attaining results, and to satisfying both students and stakeholders as we strive for educational excellence.
Our Quality Assurance Policy extends from our vision to our mission and principle values and always informs our strategic decisions as defined in our Statutes and Strategic Plan. Our Quality Assurance Policy maintains those principles promoted by the European University Association. We also strictly adhere to the Standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG2015) and then goes one further: We also adhere to those standards set by the AVA (Auto-Evaluation, Evaluation and Accreditation) standards set by the Italian University System. Furthermore, our work is informed by ANVUR when it comes to Research and our Third Mission practices and priorities.
The University quality policies are built around our principles and within an integrated framework of mechanisms and procedures that all point toward reaching our quality objectives. Together, they demonstrate what procedures and actions must be taken across the University community in order to reach our quality goals.
