Luiss University strengthens its commitment to innovation in research and teaching with the creation of the Department of AI, Data and Decision Sciences, approved by the Board of Directors acting on a proposal submitted by the Rector Paolo Boccardelli. This new academic hub integrates STEM disciplines with the University’s consolidated background in the social sciences, serving as a point of reference for the development of key skills in artificial intelligence, data science and decision making.
"We had already started the engine of artificial intelligence, and now we have engaged the turbocharger”, said the Rector Paolo Boccardelli in an interview with Il Sole 24 Ore, emphasising the importance of an informed and interdisciplinary approach to AI.
The new department, headed by Professor Irene Finocchi, will work closely with the AI4Society research centre and business enterprises, with the aim of educating a new generation of professionals capable of governing digital transformation.
Among the initiatives already launched by the University, of particular note are the appointment of the Deputy Rector for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Skills, the introduction of an AI Literacy badge, the setting up of the Teaching and Innovation Hub and the establishment of the Graduate Summer School in Data Science and Management.
Luiss confirms its standing as one of the leading universities in AI and digital skills, ready to spearhead academic innovation and support businesses in the digitalisation process.
