Giuseppe Di Taranto started teaching at Luiss University in 2001, holding courses in History of Economics and Business, History of Finance and Financial Systems and History of Economic Thought.

His focus on history reveals his rigorous and precise method. He was a careful interpreter of issues concerning Italy and the European Union, as well as even broader themes such as globalisation and the free market. In his studies, he always manifested lucid and critical thinking. His constant commitment and dedication to research and his passion led him to important positions in both national and international institutions and as a speaker, he was appreciated for the clarity of his interpretations and recognised for his courage to support theses that were sometimes unconventional, but always supported by thorough knowledge of the subject. Di Taranto lectured and participated in conferences on behalf of the UN, the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, the Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies, and numerous Italian and foreign universities.

Yet, as anyone who has attended his lectures will testify, it is in his role as a teacher that he poured the most passion and commitment, always making his students his highest priority. By placing teaching at the centre of his activities, Di Taranto won the affection and esteem of his students, the most important attestation for somebody like him, who put his knowledge at the service of young people to guarantee them a rich and profound education that would equip them with the tools to improve their world and society as a whole.

Pino Di Taranto will be greatly missed by students and colleagues, but his studies and his teachings will remain, cherished in the memory of the entire Luiss community.

Andrea Prencipe, Luiss Rector
