Luiss offers several study abroad opportunities to its students. It promotes mobility for credit transfer both within the European Community's Erasmus+ program and through bilateral agreements with non-European Institutions. These programs allow students to attend a semester in a Partner University with full academic recognition of the study plan followed abroad.
Luiss has been awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027 which allows to participate in the Erasmus+ program. The Luiss Erasmus Policy Statement, the ECHE Charter Luiss University 2021-2027 are also available online.
The university participates in the Erasmus program since the inception of the program, 1987.
Thanks to the program, over four million students have been able to experience other academic traditions, within different cultural contexts, enjoying the fascinating discovery of "diversity".
Over the years it has managed to develop a deep and qualified network of connections and agreements with European and non-European universities, all over the world.
The agreements for student mobility are based on the principle of reciprocity and allow students from both institutions to spend a period of study without having to pay any kind of tuition fee to the partner institution. The student incurs instead travel, food, and accommodation expenses.
Students can participate in the international exchange programs by applying to the call. The Call is published yearly in December. The selection is based on criteria of academic merit and language proficiency.

For the purposes of calculating the score for the selection of the present call for the International exchange programs with European (Erasmus+) and non-European countries starting from the a.y. 2024-2025, all credits valid towards graduation obtained and registered by the end of the winter exam session (including credits for internships, languages, soft skills, seminars, summer schools, advance exams, etc.) are taken into account. The credits of additional courses are not taken into account.
Credits from internships are not accounted for as credits earned, nor – in any case – as credits to be completed. One eighth (1/8) of their weight in credits will instead be added directly to the weighted grade average.
