The extracurricular internship is a training period – for a minimum duration of 2 months – designed for graduating students (students who have already applied for graduation) and recent graduates to gain work experience in companies, public institutions, and/or professional firms. The purpose of extracurricular internships is to introduce graduates to the job market. It does not correspond to a job contract.
This type of internship is regulated by the “Internship Guidelines” and by the Italian Regions and Autonomous Provinces regulations that have their own regional standards; i.e. the internship modalities and the monthly minimum allowance.
The extracurricular internship activation must be done by the employer/hosting institution.
Request to activate an extracurricular internship:
- Request for extracurricular internship – In Italy:
- Please send an email to tirociniextracurriculari@luiss.it specifying the following information:
- Student/graduate name;
- Location of the internship.
We will indicate by email the procedure to follow on an external portal. The internship will be activated within maximum 2/3 working days.
- Extracurricular internship – abroad: Please send an email to tirociniextracurriculari@luiss.it attaching the following documents:
- “Project Form” filled out and not signed in Word format.
- “Internship Agreement” filled out and not signed in Word format.
Once these documents are received, the internship will be activated within 5 working days.
NB: For all graduating students currently undertaking a curricular internship in Italy activated through Luiss, the host company may request a transition from curricular to extracurricular internship before the student officially graduates.
This procedure allows continuity in the educational and professional experience, avoiding any interruption between the end of the academic program and the beginning of the post-graduation internship.
