The 42nd Congress of the Association for the Advancement of Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property (ATRIP) recently concluded at the Viale Pola Luiss Campus. ATRIP plays a pivotal role in fostering international dialogue and collaboration in the field of intellectual property. The association counts around 500 scholars worldwide, from early-stage researchers to renowned professors.

Under the scientific direction of Christophe Geiger, Professor at Luiss and President of ATRIP, the 4-days congress was a remarkable success, gathering the record numbers of 120 speakers and 200 delegates from all five continents.

The theme for this year's event centered on the role of intellectual property laws and their enforcement in promoting ethical and sustainable innovation. Given the rising concerns for environmental stewardship, and respect for fundamental human values (including dignity, free expression, privacy, and diversity), there is an urgent need for a holistic re-evaluation of the impact of intellectual property laws on the pursuit of the mentioned values. The recent establishment of the Luiss Innovation Law and Ethics Observatory (ILEO) confirms the University's attention and responsiveness to this strategic research area.

Paolo Boccardelli, Luiss Rector, welcomed the delegates, emphasizing the timely significance of the congress for our University and its impact on both academic and entrepreneurial futures. Participants included from Luiss University Antonio Punzi, Head of the Law Department at Luiss; Edward Kwakwa, Assistant Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation; Aldo Sandulli, Deputy for Research, Department of Law at Luiss; Gustavo Ghidini, Professor at Luiss; and Gustavo Olivieri, Professor at Luiss; Cedric Manara, Director and Head of Copyright at Google, gave the dinner speech during the Gala Dinner at Villa Blanc.
