In order to enhance cooperation with global partners, Luiss University promotes up to 15 faculty exchanges.
International Chairs holder may pursue research, teaching, and international cooperation activities at all Departments and Schools of Luiss.
During the mobility period, Luiss faculty are called to enhance current or to launch new partnerships with internationally renowned universities, research centers, foreign companies, and institutions.
The mobility is structured on a twofold reciprocal path. Luiss faculty applies jointly with a foreign scholar, and each application foresees the visit of the foreign scholar at Luiss and the visit of the Luiss faculty at the foreign institution, with financial burden sharing.
Applications
Luiss faculty nominate the international counterparts (professor and university) and apply jointly.
The application needs to include the following info:
- CV of the two professors
- Planned activities
- Teaching program
- Partnership developement
- Period during which the exchange will take place
- Funding formula
Incoming professors are expected to:
- Stay at Luiss for a minimum of two weeks to up to four weeks. Longer visits can be arranged under special circumstances
- Give lectures and seminars which are fully consistent with the purpose of the program
Please note that for each university only one outgoing international chair may be accepted.
Selection
The selection committee will be chaired by the Deputy Rector for Internationalization.
The academic committee may suggest alternative academic partnerships depending on the proposed topic.
Funding
International chairs will be funded by both institutions, with each institution preferably covering the costs of its own faculty.
Remuneration by Luiss is regulated as follows.
Standard option: Luiss covering the costs of its own faculty
- Junior: one-off payment of € 2000 (gross, subject to current tax legislation) + a maximum of €1000 as reimbursement
- Senior: one-off payment of €3000 (gross, subject to current tax legislation) + a maximum of € 2000 as reimbursement
Alternative option: Luiss covering the costs of the foreign scholar
- Junior: one single payment of maximum €3,000 (gross, subject to current tax legislation)
- Senior: one single payment of maximum €5,000 (gross, subject to current tax legislation)
The senior level requires a minimum of 8 years of post-doctoral experience or at least 8 years of full-time research experience after earning a degree allowing admission to a doctorate.
Mobility periods at Luiss
- Fall 2020: Mid-September 2020 – Mid-December 2020
- Spring 2021: Mid-February 2021 – Mid-May 2021
Important dates
- Application deadline: 1 July 2020 at 5:00 p.m. (Italian local time)
- Notification of results: by the End of July 2020
