Double Degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics with Sciences Po Bordeaux

Highlights

The Double Degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics with Sciences Po Bordeaux offers students the unique chance to spend one year in one of the best institution dedicated to Political Studies in France, developing methodical and analytical skills in the field of Political Science, with focus on subjects such as International Politics, Economics, Writing and Rhetoric, Environment.

Located in the French city of Bordeaux, a UNESCO World Heritage city, Science Po Bordeaux is an international university and one of the main research centers for political science in France. 

The program is structured as follows:

  • The first and second year are carried out at Luiss (Rome);
  • The third year is carried out at Sciences Po Bordeaux.

Students selected for the Double Degree will be registered at Luiss during their time at Sciences Po Bordeaux and will continue to pay tuition fees at Luiss. Students will be exempted from paying tuition fees at Sciences Po Bordeaux.

If compliant with both universities’ rules and conditions, as for credits envisaged, attendance, deadlines, academic integrity etc., participating students will receive two degrees, which will be released according to each university’s procedures: a Bachelor's Degree in Politics: Philosophy and Economics issued by Luiss University and a Certificat de fin d’Études politiques de premier cycle (Bachelor’s Degree in Political Studies) released by Sciences Po Bordeaux.

Application process 

Who can apply

Students enrolled in the 2nd year of the Bachelor's Degree in Politics: Philosophy and Economics can apply for this program.

Available slots

Every year a total of 7 students will take part in the program.

Admission

Details regarding the application procedure, the selection process, deadlines, and further information, will be contained in the call for applications. In case of doubts about the documents to upload or to get further information about the requested documents, students are invited to contact the International Development Office before the application deadline.

Students who are selected for a Double Degree program have to respect the relevant study plan. They need to accept all the changes listed in the study plan, especially with reference to the languages and other activities.

Requirements (updated for the mobility year 2025-2026)

Candidates for this program should have the following requirements::

- Weighted average grade equal to or above 27/30 
- at least 72 credits by the deadline indicated in the Call for Applications (usually by mid February)

English language: students must possess at least a C1 level (European Framework of Reference), to be proved by one of the following certifications:

  • TOEFL min. 91/120 IBT
  • IELTS min 7
  • Duolingo min. 125
  • Cambridge: CPE; FCE min. grade A; CAE grade B/C
  • Accademica linguistica Trinity School di Roma
  • Luiss University Language Center
  • International Secondary School Diploma totally taught in English

Selection Criteria

The eligible candidates will be ranked after the analysis of their academic performance (credits, weighted average grade, English language level and French language level, each weighting respectively 55%, 35%, 6%, 4%).

The academic score will take under consideration all registered credits valid towards one’s degree (including internships, language courses, seminars, soft skills, summer schools, anticipated courses, etc.). Credits must be registered by the deadline indicated in the Call for Applications (usually by mid February). Please note that additional courses (corsi liberi) will not be taken into consideration.

Please note that the weight percentage of the following criteria is currently being reviewed:

  • weight percentage of GPA
  • Bachelor's Degree final grade
  • International experience
